ABOUT BASS DEESE
Born June 4, 1993
John "Bass" Deese is a composer, arranger, and musician who currently resides in Killeen, Texas. He is the Director of Bands at Chaparral High School, a brand new high school that opened in the fall of 2022 in Killeen ISD. He previously served as the Director of Bands for Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana, TX from 2018-2022. He also served as Assistant Band Director for Pleasant Grove High School in 2018 and Redwater High School in Redwater, TX from 2016-2018. Bass has graduated with both his Masters in Music (July 2016) and Bachelor of Arts in Music (May 2015) from the University of Arkansas in Monticello.
Bass began his composition and arranging journey during his college career, writing for small chamber ensembles, solo works, jazz combos, jazz big bands, and marching bands. His love of writing music for the marching arts is inspired by his background in Drum Corps International. Bass was a 4-year member (2012-2015) of the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, and has taught for a summer in 2018 for the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps.
Bass is happily married to his wife, Antonia Deese, and has two dogs, Butters and Noodle!
